How To Update AMD & NVIDIA Drivers

An important part of your PC’s upkeep is making sure your hardware is up-to-date. Keeping your graphics card updated is essential to keeping Blankos run as smoothly as possible.

Here’s how you can check if your AMD or NVIDIA graphics card has updated drivers.

Updating your drivers

To find out what GPU you have on your PC, follow these steps first:

  1. In the search box on the taskbar, search for Device Manager, then select Device Manager.
  2. Select Display adapters to see the name and manufacturer of your video card.

For AMD

  1. First, make sure you have AMD graphics card drivers installed on your PC.
  2. You can find out by right-clicking on the desktop, and there should be an option for AMD Radeon Software.
    • If you don’t see that option, click here to download.
  3. Once you select Radeon Software, click on the Gear icon then select System from the sub-menu. You will see the software version listed with Status to the right of it, and it will let you know when it was last checked.
  4. Click the Check For Updates button immediately below this, and allow any recommended updates to be installed.

If Check for Updates is disabled, click on the toggle button to enable it. This allows Radeon Software to check if new updates are available automatically and will give you a notification to download the new update.

You can also download new updates whenever available by enabling the Download Drivers & Software option.

For NVIDIA

  1. First, make sure you have NVIDIA graphics card drivers installed on your PC.
  2. You can find out by right-clicking on the desktop, and there should be an option for NVIDIA Control Panel. If you don’t see that option, click here to download.
  3. Once you select NVIDIA Control Panel, navigate to the Help menu and select Updates. If there is a new Update available, click on either the hyperlink for the update.

To automatically get notified if there’s a new NVIDIA graphics card update, click the Preferences tab while in NVIDIA Control Panel, and check the Automatically check for updates checkbox.

Then, check the Notify me checkbox when graphics driver updates are available checkbox to receive notifications for any updates in the future.
