When your IP address expires or there’s another issue with your IP address, it can often negatively affect your overall network connectivity.
A quick way to solve these issues is to use Windows’ Command Prompt to release and renew your IP.
In order to do so, take the following steps:
-
Press the Windows key+R on your keyboard, or click on the Windows icon on the bottom left of your taskbar, and enter cmd to open the Command Prompt
-
There, you simply type in ipconfig /renew into the comment line
-
Now, all you need to do is to confirm it by hitting Enter
This order commands your DHCP client to renegotiate an IP address lease with the DHCP server on your router.
Now, your computer will either renew your current local IP address with the router, or get your computer a new local IP address if the router hasn't already re-assigned the current address.
